Why am I shopping for chairs?

Over the last week I’ve re-arranged my living room probably 10-15 times 😵‍💫 and it all started with a tv…

Designing a room layout is usually pretty fun for me, but this room is really long and narrow with a giant fireplace so it makes things a little more tricky and nearly impossible to find a good spot for the tv. I’ve been avoiding this project for months because I was so scared, but I figured it was finally time to face my fears. I currently have four layout options I’m thinking about, if you want to see those check out Episode 33 and Episode 34 of #that70sreno!

I started to notice a common theme in all of my layout options for this room… my current chairs just weren’t going to meet my needs! I either need chairs that can swivel around between viewing the tv / chatting with the rest of the room OR chairs that are big enough you can curl up in multiple directions without swiveling. So began my hunt!

I had actually been thinking about getting new chairs since I moved into this home. I actually love the design of my current chairs, especially the contrast of the leather against my white rug, but I don’t think they look that great next to each other haha.

One night I saw a reel for these Walmart Bucle Swivel chairs and I ordered instantly! A few minutes later the thought crossed my mind … “wait why did I do that??” The chairs seemed awesome, but I totally overlooked the fact that they were nearly the same color as my rug! So I tried to cancel my order but it was already too late lol 😂

They arrived at my house a few days later and even though I was determined to return them because of the color, I was just way too curious and had to crack them open and see what they were like…..and now I’m conflicted on if I should keep them or not! The color definitely isn’t what I had initially wanted but they are such a good price and pretty comfortable. Let me know what you think in the comments of Episode 35 and check out my review of the bucle chairs + links to all my other living room furniture below!

For the price, this chair seems like a great deal! Here are some pros and cons:

Pros:

  • The price is right! At the time of writing this the white chair goes for $300. For the size of this chair that seems like a steal.

  • The fabric is so cozy! A lot of the bucle fabric I’ve seen is really really textured. This one seems to be a nice mix of the bucle style while still being relatively flat and comfy.

  • The size is a game changer. I’m pretty tall and able to easily curl up in this chair. It is extra wide and deep!

  • The swivel is perfect for rooms where the person in the chair needs to switch focus etc. but the best part is that it is pretty hidden. You can see a tiny sliver of the mechanical parts but it’s not really in your face!

  • The assembly was a breeze and only took like 10min per chair!

Cons:

  • Only comes in two colors. If this had a leather option you best believe I would not even be considering a return haha. The other color is a sage green that I think looks great but just doesn’t fit in my space unfortunately.

  • I’m not sure if this is really a con or not, but the chair is definitely designed to be used with pillows (and it comes with some so don’t worry!) When I sat on it without the pillows it wasn’t as comfortable given that the back support was hitting me right in the middle of my back / could use a little more padding on that piece.

  • Seat back height could be just a little taller in my opinion, but that could also be because I’m pretty tall.

All in all I think this chair is a good deal and I really like the design of it!

This is a replica of one of my all time favorite chairs! It’s shape is so unique and I don’t know any other chair that looks like this. I especially love how the seat is extra wide so you can sit with your legs criss-crossed comfortably. I recently had a friend over who sat in this chair and said it was “surprisingly comfortable!”

I cannot find the exact link to where I bought mine (it’s been a few years!) but I’ll drop a link to a replica I found on Amazon.

I picked this chair up from Ashley furniture during a black friday sale in 2020 and I’m really happy with how it’s help up over the last few years!

Admittedly I haven’t sat in it too much because I tend to gravitate towards the chaise lounge on the couch lol

  2. Daylen leather Armchair

  3. Chita swivel chair

I’m going to start shopping around for leather chairs now! Honestly it seems a little daunting, but here are some fun ones that I’ve found so far…. they are just a little more than I was hoping to spend 🤪

Maybe I’ll get lucky with a set from Marketplace, one can dream right?! 🤞

My little squiggle side table goes in and out of stock pretty often, so I’ll drop a link to one of my amazon lists that also has a couple other options!

Thanks for hanging out and thinking about chairs and layouts with me! This house has such a fun vibe to it and I definitely want to make sure I pick pieces that go well with it! Might just take a bit of time!

See you soon!
